BIOGRAPHY

My name is Tyler Stringer and I am a senior at Wakefield School. I have attended this school for one year and played on the varsity basketball team as a team captain. I will be going to Northern Virginia Community College and will be studying cybersecurity. Since I was young, I have always had an interest in college athletics and wondered about how they lived away from their sport. As I went through the process of getting recruited from different colleges, I decided to choose the thesis topic, “Should College Athletes Recieve Compensation?”

ABSTRACT

The National College Athletic Association is worth three billion dollars. For decades, they have been using their athletes for their image, name, and likeness without letting the players have any compensation. The NCAA thought that just giving these athletes scholarships was enough, but they failed to realize how they must live outside of their sport. Due to not compensating these athletes, they have chosen different routes or committed illegal scandals so they could earn some money, which led, in some cases, to bad outcomes. For the NCAA to cheat their athletes out of receiving compensation for their name and likeness is impermissible.
